I finally watched ‘Borat’

This movie has been on top of the chart and shows no signs of toppling. I am neither a movie critic nor a very keen movie follower. The hype about the movie lead me to the movie theatre. Although I laughed a lot in the theatre, I found the movie shallow and sometimes gross.

This movie said to have ridiculed the American culture, but I saw this movie portraying more about the underdeveloped countries living life as cavemen. I believe not a single person, from any underdeveloped country would have acted like Borat did. Though Kazakh’s certainly feel offended, I believe they definitely won’t mind the global recognition.

One interesting aspect of this movie is that they have fooled the people presented in the movie in believing that Borat is actually a Kazakh and making a documentary for his country. A law suit also has been filed by two people appearing in the movie as members of a fraternity. These two people who appeared in the movie making raciest comments were convinced by the movie production that it won’t be shown in USA.

If you want to get some laugh and won’t mind some gross visuals it’s certainly worth watching once.

I’ve been watching Borat’s antics for over a year now.. Its British comedy at its best, I think !! Remember Ali G !! I think Ali G,the movie didn’t do too well..

I saw the movie last week.. it was hilarious .. watching it with a female Nepali friend can be odd, but I didn’t mind, I was too busy laughing and so was she !!

There also used to be BBC’s own British character celeb-TV interviewer, Dennis the Pennis.. He used to interview celebrities and make fun of them point blank in their face.. It was fun to see the reactions on celebs faces .. However, Later he became well known, and he was barred from more places so he had to stop..

Ey bro….glad to know that u decided to create something like this, i mean the blog, and happy to see that you also decided to allocate space (although minimal) for me within your creation. Now i seriously feel the need to learn 2 things, and learn them fast…first, i need a tip o 2 frm you about time management skills (where in the world do u find time to do this man!!!), and second, try and bring some creativity to my by-now-predictable life…all i eat and breathe (i deliberately avoided ‘sleep’ coz ts too personal to talk about) is geography, and siru (to some extent–now u know y the sleep ommision) and soccer (to a large extent)– i mean english football, with due respect to americal football, wonder y they call it football when i barely see them use their foot to touch their ball ….not ‘balls’…they are connected to the feet so there’s no dilemma…

Re; Borat. Just a thought, i dont think the movie was about representing the eastern culture, it was rather, i think, mocking the way the West represent the East…Borat sattirically (i hope the word exists) representing the stereotypical and uninformed western representation of the world outside of the west, Kazkhstan in the movie…coz thats what the western perception is, everything non-western is ancient and antique…same goes with culture. So it was in a way ridiculing the western vision of the world outside.

I liked to momo article. Momo and human predictability, Nepali to be more precise. Totally agree with ur argument (inspired by me in some way :) )…it takes a momo to remind a friend of a friend (courtesy: my name in the blog) given what we have now – thanks to mind and science – a plethora of technology to faciliate communication and hence relation, across space and time, so i guess momo beats all the technology, thanks to momo that one decides to create something in the blog (u), thanks to momo that one decides to respond (in this case me),…it finally settles the debate about which one’s the winner — the western technology, or the eastern techMOMOlogy (courtesy: ALI G–calls it techMOlogy), in that momo comes out a winner…momo and not this blogsite, was the primary instigator of my response to you across distant space and to some extent, time (although we both are in N.America, u r a SOutherner still, to me)…so going the BORAT way, can I argue that the stereotypical western notion of viewing the east as ancient is wrong, because I can bring momo to serve as a case in point and say that look, you need momo to make the blog survive, if at least temporarily…
I dont care if anyone buys into my argument, as long as I get to buy (and eat) my momo from a Tibetan restaurant 2 blocks south of where I live, or as long as a nepali dai gets to sell them, and sell them big time in some corner shop in kathMOMOdu.

    ciao ciao!!

    Sabin Bro,

You are being very modest here, though I am very flattered to get a compliment from you.

I believe I need to learn time management from you, dont believe me? Just google your name.

    cheers!!
