Parade in Lafayette

I was really looking forward to the hype of Mardi Gras, but due to my personal reason I have to be out of the town. Well, Mardi Gras is on Feb 20, but the festivities have already started. Although I doubt Mardi Gras in Lafayette will be as wild as in New Orleans but I heard that the parade in Lafayette starts at 9am and by noon everyone is drunk.
To warm up for the Mardi Gras “king parade”, different parades have already started. I went to one of those yesterday. Basically there are floats towed by trucks and the people on the floats throw beads at you. Inspired by NakedNepali, I decided to pick up my camera and give my photography skills a shot. It didn’t take me long to realize that you not only need a good camera but also needs some skills to produce good pictures. However, I gave it my best shot.

Thanks bro, I’m flattered !!
I enjoyed going through your pics.. its good to see someone’s else pic for a change..:) I should get a slideshow like yours too
Its very difficult to take pics at night time, I wouldn’t have done any better if I was there..
Only advice, I can give you is, learn the various settings of your camera.. trust me, you will need to flick through it depending on the light conditions..
my fav is the the woman with the child ..
Agreed with nnepal. Some of the pictures are great while others could’ve been better.
My suggestion is when you publish an album like this, have a theme. Be it people, colors, the rides or anything else. That adds strength to your collection and can have wise use when it comes writing blogs.
Another thing, I do not really like nnepali’s fav picture. To me that looks like you took your family to the parade and took a shot. When you go to events like these, I think you ought to focus on the art that is depicted. My fav one is the lady with braided hairs, not only coz its artistic but also because it is natural, unlike the woman with the child.
