Bloggers in Nepal

Today as I was googling for some random information about Nepal, I was routed to one of blog from Nepal. There the blogger had links for other prominent bloggers. I had to kill my time so I went through each and every one of them. To my surprise I found blogs for different fields, there were blogs for news, daily life, photo features, linguistic etc. When I was in Nepal I predominantly used internet for emails or to apply for my Grad School, but I was glad to see technology has come this far. Reading those blogs gave me added motivation to keep blogging.

I remember when the first Nepali chat site (I believe that was by Mercantile) commenced, there were handful of participants and almost everyone knew each other. I found similar case for those blogs, I don’t know if they know each other in person but when reading through the comments I found almost all commenting (encouraging) each other’s page. I deduced that Nepalese blogging community is a close knit circle.

I had really appreciated the bloggers from Nepal during the “regression” period as they were the sole source of the inside story. Even though blog can’t be considered as accountable as an established news media, they definitely can give you a perspective story. I feel that for any project, 80% of the resources have to be spent on data collection. The presence of the diversified bloggers, with the help of search engines, will certainly help in the gazing the ground scenario beforehand and hence reduce the project cost.

    dear prajwol,

we’re not trying to impose ourselves… we’re asking you to recommend agendas, we’re asking you what can be done, we’re just suggesting that we can do something together…

ok, let’s consider that there are the four types.. we’re just suggesting that we can do sth than blogging alone for the betterment of the society…

sth that would help people, not that we’re not doing enough by talking about the country, our village and ourselves… we don’t want to create a “banner” or any group… we’re just asking like-minded people to join and do sth productive…

we want to create a basis of life-long friendships… it’s just that we’re trying sth new, and we’d be very happy if you join in….

please, have a look at this post:
Breaking popular trend and returning back to Nepal

The conversation, and people who want to do sth need people to support them…

If you want to know why BLOGAN failed, read this:
One Nepali blog, one post on Nepali blogosphere

Please, tell us what do you think of the agendas…

    With best regards,
    salik

    Dear Salik,

Nowhere I mentioned about you guys trying to impose yourself, but I had aprreciated your will and desire to spare some of your valubale time to this cause.

I have already read both of those links you suggested.

My only question is how this effort of your’s is different from BLOGAN ? Since BLOGAN failed this definitely must be something different.

I have no agenda, can’t think of anything. I think it’s too early to get together. Bloging for me is information sharing…let people write so that search engine might help other for that information. May be you guys will put forward some agenda and I might change my mind. Anyways, I’m ready to help if the objective is clear.
