Farewell to AdSense

This is my follow up post to Testing Google. If you have read that post, I have mentioned about how I love different Google applications. I use many of them everyday, and I wanted to check how effective Google’s AdSense can be.

I introduced AdSense to my blog exactly six months ago, I was trying to go by rule and see how much revenue I can generate. However I have to confess, I did click the Ad once to get me onboard. And, some of my well wishers were generous enough to click it (without me knowing about it). There might have been some genuine clicks too. So how much did I earn in six months? I earned $11.62.

I was planning to have this test run for the whole year, but I guess I have enough of it already. I think the revenue is way too less for the compromise I am making with the aesthetic value of my site. Unless you guys are doing something different that I don’t know of, Google’s AdSense is definitely not for small fish blogger like me. So from today Google’s Ads are out of my site (I’ll keep the search engine though).

By the way, one of my picture made it to BBC website :D

    never give up dude!

“Giving up” is irrelevant here. I think if I go by the rule then it’s unlikely that I can generate much from AdSense (me being a low tier blogger). I could certainly have made much more money with influenced clicks through my friends, but that’s not the point here.

And the Ads doesn’t make your site look pretty either, how much are you willing to compromise with the aesthetic value of your site for the revenue?

However,if it didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for others.

I also tested AdSense long ago. I felt the same way what you have written here.

You are lucky that you pulled back before your account was suspended. I think, I went beyond while testing… :D I had about US$50, when it was closed.

Although google is discouraging only-for-AdSense websites, I think, AdSense is only for them. If we account time spent on AdSense, revenue is nothing. Any other activity during the time could give more revenue. And even more, it is frustrating (looking at the low revenue).

Congratulations !!! You are now a professional photographer, Sathi…

    Prof.

    Prof.

Does wordpress allow AdSense? or you had a blogspot account before?
Yes, you are right about the work you have to put through to get that minimal return.

Thanks, being professional photographer is still very very far from me but I was happy to see my name in BBC site :D

    hahaha..

Yes, I know what I said was irrelevant.

But you know there are some key words for example insurance and mortgage that are highly paid! Since google adsense is “contextual”, even with the same number of clicks, you can earn 10 times more …

Others can blog financial stuff and earn a lot–even without invalid clicks. :)

You know the heartbreaking story onf mine, however. Never let Nepali fellows in Nepal who you are if you want to earn by publishing ads in your blog! :)

    Btw, wordpress doesnt allow ads.

Prof, how much you made from your new site?

Congrats on the BBC pic dada. It really is an awesome feat. This might be my first comment on your blog; somehow I have never had the chance to do that before. But your latest piece on adsense made utter sense to me (pun intended). I experienced and still experience the same qualms for the aesthetic value of my blog with those ads on the side. I don’t have the luxury of removing it though; I just hope it generates something!

  7. Prajwol says:

Keshav,It was pretty bad what happened to you. You might be right on being anonymous, especially after what happened.
    Shaileswori,Welcome to my blog Nanu.
Thanks :) ….Well, I guess it’s not big deal, I just got lucky I have been to your site before, but was too shy to leave a comment. To leave a comment I needed to understand the context, and I’m poor in grasping the peoms :( You were very good in literatures from the begining and still showing no signs of slowing down :P
    AdSense बाट पैसा जम्मा गरेर नेपाल जाने टिकट किन्न पाएको भए काइदा हुन्थ्यो, तर ट्याक्शि चढेर एरपोर्ट बाट घर पुग्ने पैसा पनि उठेन ….Anyways, good luck to you in that regard. I’ll remember to “correctly” helping you with AdSense ;)

  8. Nepali Akash says:

    Congratulations !!!

Both for being adsense free and your presence in the BBC site.

    Blog on !!!

  9. Prajwol says:

    Ya,

it really feels nice after getting rid of those ads :)

  10. Nnepali says:

WOW ..congrats bro with the pic… :)

  11. Prajwol says:

Thanks :D he he he…now I’m getting little embaressed with this hype :)

  12. I arrived bot late… on this post, but it seems it may always be a ‘evergreen fact’ for bloggers like us.

I think unfoldingreverie is 100% correct, when he says Although google is discouraging only-for-AdSense websites, I think, AdSense is only for them.
