Trip to Tiger Stadium

When people think of Louisiana few things come to mind: Hurricane Katrina, Mardi gras, LSU Tigers, etc. I was fortunate enough to miss the wrath of Hurricane Katrina, have seen what Mardi gras is all about, but still wasn’t able to witness football in Tiger Stadium.
I jumped with joy when one of my colleagues said he might find me a ticket to the Saturday game (November 10). LSU football is so popular that the tickets get sold out early in the season. Yesterday’s game was between LSU Tigers and LA Tech Bulldogs. It was expected that Tigers will rout the Bulldogs, as Tigers are the top College football team in the country. That’s why someone didn’t want to go to the game as there would be no competition, and that’s how I got lucky, although I sill had to pay $40.00 (reimbursing the original ticket owner).
My friend from office and me got there around 2 PM (the game was at 7 PM). We then hung around with his friends who were tailgating. These people were there from Friday evening, they have motor home and they party till the game. There were hundreds of motor home, and other people who didn’t have the motor home were simply camping around. One has to be there to witness the game day environment; mind you this was just a college game.
It seemed that I was the only ‘brown skin’ guy in the tailgating area. It’s highly unlikely that they remember my Nepali name, but they were quick to give me a nick name: Bobby Jindal (The next Governor of Louisiana, a man from an Indian origin). Normally I hate it when people generalize me as an Indian, but in this case I didn’t mind, they were referring to me as their Governor.
My friend had a cooler with wheels which we could easily drag around; we emptied all the beers inside. By the time I entered the stadium, I was little drunk. As for the game goes, as expected Tiger defeated Bulldogs by 58 to 10 points.
Check out some of the pictures I took.
By the way, Happy Deepawali to all of you
I am glad you had some fun experience watching college football. I would have been a lot better if there was some competition-like the Gators-Tigers game. Those damn tigers were lucky to survive the gators this year but next year is not too far.
Go Gators!
I think i know who ara-thibodaux is
…..anyways, lastai ramailo bhaye jasto cha ni ta…ani k ho game ko photo bhanda cheerleader ko photo dherai…ramrai ho…
ARA-Thibodaux bro,
Welcome to my blog. Yeah you are right, if there was some competition game would have been more fun, but then I wouldn’t have chance to get a ticket. I don’t know about next year, but this year we all know for sure who is the No. 1 team
. For your sake, I hope Gator at least make it to conference final next year
Lunatic Calm,
.
It wasn’t hard to guess who ARA was, was it? I hope his future wife is not Tiger fan, or else there always will be huge fight at his home
The game was dull, and I was there to see what’s the stadium atmosphere is like, so I have more photos of other things than just the game, this particular game was one sided so I wasn’t much interested in game anyways. However, it surely feels great to watch game with 90,000 plus people in a stadium
Lunatic calm, you guessed right, i know who you are too
Getting the tiger fans aroused – my comment has accomplished its goal from the replies i gather. Don’t get too excited about tigers being #1. Still some games left on the board, just wait and see.
anyways, i also wanted to say that the pics were nice – the cheerleader pics for sure
BTW, football tailgaiting can be lots of fun if you are with good company and have somebody with good cooking / grilling skills around. Alcohol does help for sure.
There you go ARA-Thibodaux, finally talking like an unbiased football fan. I don’t think the remaining two games for Tigers will test their mantle. The conference final can be little tricky, unless Tigers beat themselves, I don’t think anyone can beat them this year (that solo loss so far to Kentucky was Tigers beating themselves):D
I took those cheerleaders picture especially for you, for your motivation this winter in Nepal
You are getting good at this.. hehe Nice to see what you saw !!
thanks for sharing..
Anytime bro
