FYI: Phishing related to BOA

Check the picture below. It is a screen shot of an email I got couple of days ago. If you have a Bank of America  (BOA) account, this might look familiar. Notice the email address of the sender, it’s a Phishing email. I nearly fell for it, especially when it looks exactly as BOA email (banners and logo). When I clicked on the link “Please Upgrade Your Information”, it threw me off as it asked for my BOA on-line ID, password, DOB, address, SSN, etc. If you get an email like this or any email asking about any information (related to BOA) first verify that at abuse@bankofamerica.com

    i used to see this for my citi card account…..so it started on BOA also!!!

    माथि आकारजीले भनि सक्नु भयो, ठग्नेहरुको हजार उपाए भनेर।

    हुँदैं नभएको एकाउण्टको समेत बेला-बेलामा ‘पासवर्ड चेन्ज गर्न’ र ‘एकाउण्ट चेक गर्न’ समेत ईमेल आउँछन आजकल ।

    Thanks for sharing the info about Citi.

    I think the best practice, if enrolled in E-Banking, is not to click any email links at all. If there needs to be any action taken, one can see that (or will be asked) when logged on to that particular account.

    I agree with Aakar and Dilip Ji, most of my email junks are all Phishing and social engineering emails :(

    I never knew such strange things could appear in such big big big bank :o , well that’s life. Nothing will amaze me anymore :)
