Do I need it?

For past couple of weeks, I was feverishly following the development of Nexus One, the “Google Phone”. I have to say, I am very impressed with what they have come up with. The phone is pretty fast and powerful, one of the Google’s official stated that it is better than what his laptop used to be four years ago. But, one thing to keep in mind is that this doesn’t end here, the products hereon will keep getting better with time.

I don’t blame anyone for wanting this phone, I do too :D   But are you willing to purchase another one, with even better features (surely) within a year? Unless you have a big chunk of money to spend on these gadgets, I am absolutely certain that it would be overwhelming and very hard to keep up with the new technologies. I feel that how you want to proceed in these technological advancements basically boils down to two questions: 1. Do I have the best possible phone? or 2. Does my phone do everything I need it to do?

People have different opinions; but, personally, I will be asking myself the second question before thinking about any possible upgrades :) As much as I am impressed with this phone, I don’t have any immediate plans for purchasing it :(

I would wait three more months until Verizon offers it at 179.

  2. Aakar says:

I’d suggest Wait or Buy this one…But its sure that, next year another will come with other exciting features… :P

As you say Prajwol, there is great advancement when it comes to handsets, but i would personally ask what features you want in a phone that you would use ….I see that people have handsets with all the features included in it but not even a third of its features are used….but if money is not a problem and if you are into showing off better than ur friends, you should go for it..

  4. I’ll go with Aakar Ji too. Not next year… after few months another Avatar will emerge and there will be one more alternate or challenge (?) for us:) .

I was somehow anticipating that this will be little cheaper than other similar brands. But the information I’m getting, tells me that the rate is almost same as that of Iphone:)

I agree….and I was amazed to know iphone supports over 100K applications and yesterday I met a friend who said his friend developed 3 applications for iphone and made a lot of money. I am starting to believe its no more a cell phone…its the decades most advanced gazette…and will be a great war on the product development and marketing..and I would say we can expect to get the new advancement every month…can we keep up with it??…I can’t …and after a series of fierce competition…it will be back to a normal commodity…no longer a cell phone…but cell phone will just be one of the 2M applications that can run on it….Just amaging revolution …

I think you should be a super rich and super crazy to be ruled by ever advancing gadgets. My choice too is determined by the second question.
