If you are raising your eyebrow after reading the heading, I don’t blame you. This post is listed under my “I love to drink” blog category, so those who are regular to my blog can pretty much expect what’s coming up. As most of you might know how my loss of appetite for liquor has hurt that particular blog category, but I still find a way to get around it. Today I’m writing this post under the influence, not the liquor but general anesthesia

Category: I love to drink
There was a time when I absolutely loved drinking, no matter if it was a social drink or simply drinking to get drunk (big time). I never used to shy away from any possible opportunity to drink, and on few occasions established some notorious reputations too ![]()

But times changed now, without even knowing about it, I ain’t the same drinker that I used to be. I had to sit around with some of my old pals to finally realize that. Now I am more of a social drinker, who if tries to push beyond that suffers a great deal the next day
I know it’s all good considering possible health as well as monetary benefits from my less enthusiastic drinking. However, my blog is in loss because of that. I have a blog category called “I love to drink” where I post all the creative ideas that I acquire during my drinking sagas. I doubt if I will have any more updates to that category. But I am optimistic that any substitutes (if any) to my drinking habits can also produce equally interesting and inspiring accounts for me to share
Last time when Apple came up with a great concept of iPhone, I still had some more innovative ideas (on top of iPhone) on my dream smart-phone needs. It was one of my beer guff posts, check out this link to read what I desired on my cell phone.
I recently saw an ad for a smart phone which does not exactly have what I desire, but has many features as wild as my imagination. The smart-phone is called Pomegranate and it has features (on top of other regular smart-phone features) like: Projector, Global Language Translator, Coffee Brewer, Shaver, and Harmonica.

Still don’t believe me, check their official website and make sure you spend time to browse each features of the phone. Please be patient, the link will open in a new page and will take some time to load.
I was very excited with public holiday (July 4th, Independence Day) in the middle of the week. I did not had any plans but I intended to sleep till afternoon (normally I have to be in my office by 7:30 am). I guess my plan was more than fulfilled, I had to bed rest another day too with 101 fever. What a waste of Independence Day
While in Nepal, as far as I remember, every time I got sick my parents took me to a doctor who always prescribed me the same medicine: Amoxicillin, Vitamin – B complex, and Aspirin. After repetitive prescription, I became my own doctor and any time I have the similar symptoms (mild fever, cough & cold etc) I would go the drug store and buy myself my favorite combination. It worked all the time, I was so much used to antibiotics that Aspirin alone simply couldn’t heal me.
My situation in USA is quite different now; in last 4 years that I am here I went to the doctor only twice, and yesterday was one of the occasions. Unlike in Nepal, to buy antibiotics (in general) you need prescription from a doctor, so I can be my doctor no more. After spending whole day in bed Wednesday and missing my work Thursday too, I finally decided to see a doctor. And guess what I got prescribed, the same magical formula but with different brand names. However, my sinus problem was bigger than while in Nepal, consequently I got extras for that too. So, I took those magic bullets, and Friday I am back to work again.
The worst part in this episode was dragging my fever struck body out of the bed and driving to the doctor’s place by myself. While I was weak and craving for soup from lambs’ feet (खसीको खुट्टी), I was fortunate for no more than Quesadilla from Taco Bell. No wonder, foreign life is good only when everything is working well.
I was thinking, can’t it be possible to create a USB cable that has a sensitive prong to scan the human body. Just like the anti virus software scans the computer, software to be created that with the help of the prong USB scans human body and explains what part requires immediate or future attention. For the problems that require immediate attention one could download software’s to fix it. Sorry doctors, if my idea works you guy’s will be out of business, but wouldn’t that be convenient for all. Doctors can still get jobs in the places where there are no internet or slow connection.
Although this post is listed under my Beer Guff series, I am 100% sober while writing it, remember I am still on medication
I always felt that one of the best companions for bachelor life is having a cell phone. No matter where you are, your cell phone is always with you. Even if it gets misplaced you can always ask someone to give you a ring and you can locate where it is, unless the battery is dead (my friend Samar got his third phone because he misplaced his other two when the battery was dead).
It always appears that when you are feeling lazy you don’t seem to find the thing that you are looking for. For example, when you come home tired from work and lay in the couch to watch TV, but your remote is under the pile of your dirty laundry. Don’t you ever wish you could turn on your TV from your cell phone? My friend Ashish couldn’t agree more on the usefulness of a cell phone. I have tried to assemble some of the stuffs that we wanted to embed in our cell phone; invented during our lazy hours. A cell phone must have following features too: a lighter, TV remote, bottle/wine opener, house key, car starter, pen, Chap Stick, etc.
Recently Apple Inc. introduced an iPhone, a cell phone that can act as an iPod & PDA and at the same time function as a regular cell phone. But the technology still has to go a long way before fulfilling all my expectations.
Recently a team of American and British scientists successfully hid a small copper cylinder from microwaves. The basic principle behind this is deflecting the microwaves around the object and restoring them on the other side, giving an impression that they had passed through empty space. Human vision works on visible range of electromagnetic spectrum, if in someway the waves from the visible range can be deflected similar to the experiment done by American and British scientists, then we definitely can have an invisible man. I don’t want to talk about the pros and cons of developing a mechanism that can stealth visible spectrum, but I just want to point out that with the way thousands of scientist working around the globe a breakthrough in this area is utterly possible.
Scientists around the world are working on many projects that we might not even fantasize about, as only the success stories are brought up in the media; however, I would like to draw attention of scientific communities in couple of areas that I am interested in. Although they might already be working on those, but if not then I am talking chances by writing them in my blog and hoping someone would read it and give it a shot.
I was always precise about the food that I eat. I want the food to be very flavorsome but at the same time I don’t want to be spending much time eating. I am also a very bad cook to make the food of my choice. So I always dreamt if there was a capsule that can substitute your food. A capsule for every occasion: breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as for late night parties. Each capsule comes with different taste sensation, for example, it can give you sensation of MOMO or CHATAMARI and at the same time fill your stomach. These capsules can be bought online or in your nearest grocery store. You can even purchase a stock for a whole year. Just imagine if these capsules can be made how much it would revolutionize the world. People can get right amount of ingredients in the food; there would be no problem of overweight or malnutrition. If someone is over weight he/she can purchase capsule that has less carbohydrate content and if someone is suffering from malnutrition that person can purchase capsule containing more proteins, vitamins and minerals. Since these capsules will be mass produced, it will be very inexpensive. Due to less storage space and inexpensiveness, people in Africa can be reprieved of hunger. Time saved on groceries, cooking and eating can be used to better our lives, more time for families, more time on creative work, and the advantages of it goes on and on.
After solving the eating problem for the world there is another issue that I would like to draw attention of the scientific communities; that is to create a peaceful sleep. I am suffering from this problem and my friend Jewel Shrestha had come up with this idea, to purchase a sleep. I need to be at work at 7:30 am everyday, but I don’t fall asleep till 1 or 2 am and waking up every morning is like hell. One might say there are sleeping pills to solve this problem but sleeping pills must be taken everyday and are said to have side effects, and I am looking for a more sophisticated stuff than just a sleeping pill. How about a system of purchasing a month of sleep for certain time period where the person goes immediately to sleep in that period? I would purchase a period of 10 pm to 6 am. This period can be purchased online and the account must be renewed periodically after the allocated time, similar to pre paid sim card of a cell phone. There can be variety of sleep purchased like pleasant sleep, romantic sleep, sexy sleep, horror sleep etc. While sleeping one can have different sleep vibrations based on one’s desire. There can be also a pay per view sleep which will of course be more expensive but different than the regular sleeps. Once in a while, it will be a good option to purchase a pay per view sleep, especially during the weekends.
Though all these ideas are resultants of beer guff, but if achieved can be a great blessing to mankind.
